Love these two songs and am pretty sure I know that they were never played in the same show, but might I be wrong? Could Jerry ever muster up that much emotion in one evening?
From a blog, remember reading that Comes was not played that much and have never understood why this was so. But just another mystery that makes the band the so intriguing and wondering about long after Jerry's passing.

Check out 5/16/78! Only Morning Dew of '78 and a very emotive "Comes A Time" out of Space...

No Morning Dew that night. The only '78 Dew was 4-15 at William and Mary.

Oh right. Got ahead of myself. I morphed a couple of my favorite shows into one.

At any rate, the Comes a Time is a beaut from 5/16 and that 4/15 is a show to be reckoned with!

setlists.net will give you your answer. There's the incredible show on 5-23-72. Many others recommend 6-28-85 but I do not think that was a particularly good show. An then there's the slop from 6-14-85 and I do not think I've heard the final time these two songs were played on 4-4-87.

At 06-28-1985, Comes A Time comes out of Bird Song in the first set, interesting, but Garcia's vocals are really rough this show...06-14-1985 Dew opens second set, Comes A Time takes the post space ballad spot, not a particularly inspired show...04-04-1987 might be the most manageable of the three if you don't have access to E72 box...

Thanks folks,
Have been looking for a show that had these two together and looking at most of the dead releases missed the 72 show where they came together in one show on 5/23/72. Already own Europe 72 1 and 2 Rockin in the R Hundred and have been leaning toward the 5/11/72 show that is back in stock on the dead site. Now that you have tossed a wrench in that plan I might have to get both.
Loving the dead, but spending way to much Ching with that love. Not a fan of too much beyond the 70s and really cringe hearing Bret sing anything. From my view, when Keith and Donna left the band lost their way and became a commercial trip and lost the original route that had served them so well. Sure there were good shows for the last half of the roadshow, but they were never able to recapture the 60 and 70's flavor that made them so creative and addictive.
We all have our own memories and experiences of the dead and hearing them later on truly made incredible impressions on the generation after 79. Great to know the dead were still able to shine the light for more and more fans, but for me, I truly have a hard time listening to almost all of the last 15 years.
Thanks again for the info about 5/23/72.
